Rhonda Imel Higgenbotham was diagnosed with two brain tumors in November. Since then she has been paralyzed and has a life expectancy of six months. Komets general manager David Franke said he had a couple of irons in the fire, but decided not to go further. Leo Thomas will be back Wednesday and Brandon Warner on Friday. There might have been only one trade in the entire league, sending Steve Later from Texas to Missouri.
Players can still be added to rosters. The European signing deadline is next Monday, and free agents can be added all the way up to the end of the regular season.
Franke also said he's not sure when or if Michael Ratchuk will be returning to the Komets.
