Komets sign three more, including Leo Thomas

The Komets announced Wednesday that veteran forward Leo Thomas has agreed to terms and will return for his third straight season with Fort Wayne.

Some things I've heard today

* Seems obvious to me the Komets are trying to load up on their developmental players, which is 128 pro games or less under the last CHL collective bargaining agreement. They've got four already in Keith Rodger, Brandon Naurato, Bobby Phillips and Derek Patrosso. That's smart to save room on the salary cap, and each team had to play five last season.

Komets re-sign Rodger, Mironovic

The Komets announced Tuesday that defensemen Danko Mironovic and Keith Rodger have agreed to terms and will return for 2010-11.

Komets sign two

The Komets announced Wednesday that former Port Huron Icehawk forwards Derek Patrosso and Brandon Naurato have agreed to terms and will be in a Fort Wayne uniform when the puck drops on 2010-11.

Roster moves

The Komets announced Monday that defenseman Bobby Phillips has agreed to terms and will return to the Turner Cup Champion Fort Wayne Komets for 2010-11.

Phillips, 24, skated 66 games last year netting two goals and adding 14 assists for 16 points in his pro debut after a four-year stint with Mercyhurst College in the NCAA.   He was also named IHL Rookie of the Week for the week ending Jan. 10.

Here's some gas on the fire

And then I'm back to vacation.

Anybody paying attention to the indoor football team?

How does this trade make any sense?

This sounds like an April Fool's joke doesn't it?

So long... for a while

As long as I can get approval from Hit Somebody, I'm going on vacation until early July. Behave yourselves. Please. I'll be spending all the ill-gotten gains I've received from running this blog over the last few years on wine, women and song, meaning it'll be water, Barbie and the Bee Gees marathon. No foo foos for me. Then it will be time to come back and start on the football tab.

Hextall: One way or another we'll get through this

Just got off the phone with IHL Commissioner Dennis Hextall. Some highlights:

* Chicago Hounds owner Craig Drektrah is attending the ECHL meetings right now and will likely be invited to join.

* The Kinneys actually made money for McMorran Arena this year and then the arena management decided to change the terms of the deal, so the Kinneys said enough is enough.

* Hextall thinks the Kinneys will be back in the IHL in the near future but not next season, possibly putting up a building in Howell.

What books are you planning on reading over the summer? Or maybe what was the last good book you read? I need some ideas. Favorite authors? Could be fiction, non-fiction, sports, mysteries, biographies or whatever.

CHL announces participating teams

The Central Hockey League (CHL) today announced the participating teams that will compete in the league's 19th season beginning on Friday, October 15, 2010. Although some material matters still remain to be worked out with the International Hockey League (IHL), the CHL will welcome four teams from the IHL who will join 13 returning CHL teams for the 2010-11 season.  The participating teams will compete in two conferences during the season.  The four existing IHL markets will be the three-time defending
