There's a lot to talk about you can watch here.
It's a two-parter.
Leo Thomas is the Player of the Week, Sean O'Connor the Rookie of the Week and Nick Boucher the Goaltender of the week.
Chuck a puck and win a car, just like Ashrie.....Ashrie Onion became the latest winner of a car courtesy of Instant Auto Finance Sunday, April 11 when the Komets hosted the Quad City Mallards. She instantly won the care by throwing her foam puck through the open window of the Monte Carlo SS from her seat during the Kroger and Scott's Chuck-A-Puck, becoming the 10th Komet fan to win an Instant Auto Finance car since 2001!
IHL Vice President of Hockey Operations Brad Jones said Monday he will be reviewing the Mitch Woods' spearing major from Saturday night at Dayton. Jones automatically reviews all major penalties and said he'll m
First off, Toronto did send a couple of players to Reading this morning, and he said if they had sent him there, he'd have gone with no qualms.
``I didn't think about it until we were mathematically eliminated, which was last Monday, and then we started looking at options,'' he said. ``I didn't even think it was going to be a real possibility because my commitment was to Toronto, but I knew eventually I would be coming back to Fort Wayne after the season ended to be with my family.''
It was supposed to be Thursday, but the guys are leaving early for Quad City. I'll let you know when it'll be rescheduled for and who will be there.
Leo Thomas scored a hat trick, Sean O'Connor scored two goals and P.C. Drouin had three assists as the Komets blasted Dayton 5-2 to improve to 98 points on the season. They also climbed within five points of first-place Muskegon. The Komets have four games remaining and the Lumberjacks three.
I'm pretty sure this also clinches second place for the Komets.
Asked about the possibJustin Hodgman, David Franke said, ``Justin Hodgman is not coming in tomorrow.'' Komets can pretty much sign anyone they want.
Bobby Phillips has an upper body injury and may rest until the playoffs.
Veteran forward Konstantin Shafranov is leaving the Komets on Friday to play for Kazakhstan in the upcoming World Championships in Germany. Because he'll play a minimum of six games, Shafranov will not be back the rest of this season, after which he's planning to retire anyway.
Because the games do not start until May 7, there's no chance Shafranov will be back in time to make the playoffs. Besides that, the Komets would not want to use up a roster spot by holding a position open for him.
Just a reminder that the Komets Game of the Week begins Saturday night (at 8pm) and Sunday morning (8am) broadcasts this weekend. I've been told (knock on particle board) that the game airing tonight will be the one filmed April 1st (vs. Dayton). Assuming that is correct, my interview was with Mike Reidt. Here's the blurb:
