Tailing the Komets

In the building tonight

Are the Wamplers, owners of Hara Arena in Dayton. They are here checking things out. I also heard there were meetings in Quad City this week for a couple of days.

Dylan Row is also here tonight and is going to skate with the Komets tomorrow. They want to check him out before deciding on signing.

Who do you want the Komets to face?

Which team would you like to see them play in the first round, Muskegon or Kalamazoo?

Right now Muskegon leads by one point and has played one fewer game than the Wings. Kalamazoo holds the first tiebreaker, overall wins, and Muskegon holds the second tiebreaker, head-to-head wins.

Kalamazoo hosts the Komets on Friday and travels to Muskegon on Saturday. The Lumberjacks travel to Flint on Thur

Boulay, MacMillan updates

The Komets waived rookie defenseman Brian Boulay on Monday and revealed forward Brad MacMillan suffered a broken hand during Saturday night's fight against Muskegon. MacMillan said he'd like to try playing through the injury, but General Manager David Franke said it's very unlikely MacMillan will play this week, though he will not be placed on injured reserve.

MacMillan said he hurt his hand on his last punch against Muskegon's Scott Gabriel.

If you are interested

Guy Dupuis, Jake Pence and I will be appearing at St. Michael Lutheran Church, 2131 Getz Road, at 7 p.m., Tuesday night for a men's ministry evening. Basically, Jake and Guy are going to talk about being Christians who work in professional athletics, and I'm going to grill them with incredibly difficult, probing, personal questions. Nah, it will be more fun than that.

The great thing about O'Connor

Besides the fact that he has 21 goals in 56 games, is that he's still going to be eligible to be a rookie next season. Definite IHL ROY candidate right there if the Komets can bring him back, and unlike most rookies, he's already been to the ECHL and wasn't buying the hype.

Komets earn 100 points for the third year in a row and fifth time in six years. Magic number for third league regular-season title is now three points.

I'll bet Al's not too happy

The score is tied 1-1 after the first period, and truthfully, Muskegon doesn't look too enthused with this game. Players skating straight up, no hitting. Shots are 14-13 Komets, but they should have one or two more goals.

Brad MacMillan knocked out Muskegon's Robin Bouchard with a clean hit early in the first period. Bouchard had his head turned waiting for a pass when MacMill
