Tailing the Komets

The roster situation

Just talked to General Manager David Franke. Forward Brett Beebe will be signing a contract and play tomorrow night. He's been playing with Pensacola of the SPHL and has six points in seven games there.

Kaleigh Schrock and C.J. Severyn will be coming off IR for Saturday's game. Right now the Komets do not know what they will do with the rest of the roster at that time.

The Komets are also not expecting to recieve any players from Lake Erie until after the weekend. There's a rumor that Sami Aittokallio is back, but that is not true, according to Franke.

Stanford Ratings for Nov. 24

The Stanford System connects and compares the teams, and develops a "Rating," based on the results of this season's games.  For each game, the system considers who won, the margin of victory, and the location of the game.  The "Schedule" column indicates the ranking of each team's schedule difficulty for games played to date.  To predict the most probable outcome of an upcoming game, first add the indicated "Home Edge" to the home team's rating, then compare the two teams' ratings.  The team with the higher rating is the most probable winn

Script flips on Komets

This time they lose the defensive battle 3-1

Transaction

Reid Petryk, recalled from loan from Fort Wayne by Lake Erie.

Krug fights Mallet

That was a tilt! Lots of haymakers thrown and the whole thing lasted for more than a minute. Both men are very tough to take that much punishment and keep going.

Teddy Bear toss

3:59 into the second period after a goal by Mike Embach

So far...

It's Joel Martin's game and the rest of us are just watching it. Shots 18-6 Komets in the first, but it's still 0-0 on the scoreboard.

Heads up!

Just heard from Kalamazoo broadcaster Mike Modugno that next Friday's game in Wings Stadium starts at 5 p.m. because of Black Friday. It might actually help us getting across 94, but we'll see. So keep that in mind if you're going to the game next week.

Kalamazoo has a new back-up goalie

Joel Martin will start but Fort Wayne's Larkin Saalfrank is backing him up. Scott Munroe is ill so Larkin is spending the weekend with the Wings.

Mitch Heard has been called up

To Lake Erie. Good for him.

Don't forget

The Komets have three key promotions coming up within the next week. Friday is the second-annual Teddy Bear Toss night as fans are invited to bring new or gently used stuffed animals to the game for the big toss and celebration after the Komets' first goal. All stuffed animals collected will benefit the Disorderly Bear Den of Good Bears of the World.

Charity hockey game

The Fort Wayne Freeze, the Fort Wayne Police Department’s hockey team, will play their first home game in two years this Saturday, November 22, 2014 against the Cincinnati Firefighter Hockey Club. The game will take place at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum at 3 P.M. in the arena.

The purpose of this game is to raise money for Fort Wayne Freeze player Christopher Holt’s son Chase, who was diagnosed with Neurofibromatosis Type 2 (NF2) in 2013.
