Much better defense

That was great team defense tonight as the Komets shut out Bloomington 3-0. Coach Al Sims mixed up his defensive pairings and it seemed to help a great deal. Brian Boulay, Jay Holladay and Brandon Warner in particular played good games on the blue line. Tim Haun did a great job in net, controlling his rebounds and allowing his defensemen to clear the puck.

Komets lose in Flint

For the second game in a row, the Fort Wayne Komets have fought back to tie the score but then lost the lead on the very next shift. This time it cost them a 3-2 loss at Flint.

The Generals led 2-0 halfway through the second period on goals by John DiPace and Justin DePretis before the Komets got on the board with P.C. Drouin's 13th goal of the season. Fort Wayne the game 2-2 on Sean O'Connor's second of the season at 13:11 of the third period, but the Generals came right back on the next shift as Steve Rymsha deflected a Kyle Deck blast from the point for a 3-2 Flint lead.

Regarding Augusta players

David Franke said today the Komets are looking at possibly bringing one or two in for a look, but nothing will happen before this weekend. All the players are unrestricted free agents unless they have a two-way contract with Norfolk of the AHL.

Here's a fun topic and this week's

With the signing of Leo Thomas, the Komets have once again signed a player fans love to hate. Who have been your favorite players to hate over the years either who have or have not become Komets. Here are a few to get your started: Scott Gruhl, Tracy Egeland, Kevin MacDonald, Chad Grills, David Alexandre-Beauregard or Darin Smith. How about Joe Nathe, Tony Horvath or even Bob Bailey for the oldtimers?

More on Augusta, but just a little

I just talked with Komets coach Al Sims and he said he's planning to call Noforlk General Manager and former Komet Mike Butters this afternoon to see what's up with the Tampa Bay prospects. Sims said he expects the Augusta players to all be declared free agents. Butters obviously knows the Komets are interested.

In other news, David Hukalo continues to be plagued by a stiff back and will be a game-time decision on Friday.
