Piers Morgan is a silly ass:

On Monday’s episode of “Piers Morgan Tonight,” the British host called for a ‘gay marriage amendment’ to the Bible.

“My point to you about gay rights, for example, it’s time for an amendment to the Bible,” Morgan told his guest, Pastor Rick Warren of Saddleback Church.

“Not a chance,” Warren responded.

Morgan compared the Bible to the U.S. Constitution, saying the original document should be changed when it no longer suits the times. He called both works “inherently flawed.”

The Founders knew the Constitution might some day be seen as inadequate to changing times, hence their provisions for amendments. Of course, what Morgan really means is that the amendment process needs to be so responsive to ever-changing whims that nothing in the document need ever be taken very seriously. How lovely to be lectured by someone who adopts this country just so he can tell us its faults.

As for the Bible, Ed Morrissey at Hot Air had the appropriate response:

If you believe that the Bible is the unerring word of God, then you know that it’s absurd to suggest that it be “amended” based on the latest human fashion, which is what Warren explains.

[. . .]

And if you don’t think that the Bible is the unerring word of God … why would you care what’s in it at all?

Piers Morgan vs. Rick Warren. Not much of a contest.
