Of course, times change, television changes and cartoons are now superheroes and based on comic book characters and, most of the time, created to market toys rather than entertain the young and the young at heart on Saturday mornings.
Cartoons aren't even relegated to daytime anymore. Some have hit primetime, others have a home on a network devoted to animated characters.
Yes, I liked "Rocky and Bullwinkle" -- the first time we realized cartoons could be cool enough for adults. And I've enjoyed "The Simsons" and "Hank Hill" and an occasional "Family Guy." But I still have fond 
memories of all the Saturday mornings spent with the Looney Tunes gang from Warner Brothers. Where else could we get wisdom like "I know this defies the law of gravity, but I never studied law" and "If it's the Captain's Mess, let him clean it up" and "What an embezzle! What an ultramaroon!"? And do I even have to tell you that my favorite character was the cranky old guy with the gun? Gotta go now -- my biscuits is burnin'!
