They bomb Evansville 5-1 the night after losing 2-1 in overtime. After going 15-4, they go 1-3-1 and give up 5 goals per game while scoring 2. Even if they won the last 10 games of the season, how confident would you feel going into the playoffs?

HS state hockey update

Congratulations to Leo and Carroll which won this weekend to advance to next weekend's state finals. Leo will play in Class 2A and Carroll in Class 3A. Carroll beat Evansville 5-4 to advance, and Leo beat No. 1 seed Brebeuf 6-2 to finish 3-0 in pool play. More information coming as it becomes available.

Schrock X-rays are negative

Deep bone bruise but no fracture. He's listed officially as day-to-day, but don't expect him to make the road trip this weekend. He'll try it out in practice tomorrow and thinks there's a possibility he could play on Sunday.

Evansville 1-0 after one

Braden Desmet got WAY behind Guy Dupuis and Craig Cescon for a breakaway three minutes in to give the IceMen a 1-0 lead. Komets had a 1:33 2-man advantage at the end of the period and had three shots on goal and nothing close to scoring.

No suspensions for Christian, Thomas

Komets general manager David Franke said today there will be no further discipline for Evansville's Jeff Christian for his elbowing major against the Komets' Frankie DeAngelis on Saturday night, or against Leo Thomas for his slashing major on Sunday in Dayton. The league is still deliberating about Derek Patrosso's abuse of official penalty on Sunday in Dayton. It was a verbal abuse foul and not a physical one. The Komets are also waiting to hear if they will be able to get Michael Ratchuk back from Springfield in time for Wednesday's game.
