What Chaulk said

``He was looking the other way, and I just stepped up and tried hit him shoulder-to-shoulder, and the last second he made the move. I'm not trying to knee him, I'm trying to hit him with my shoulder. My stick is on the ice, my two feet are on the ice. We hit leg on leg, and I thought he hit him on the thigh. It was accidental, but unfortunately it put the team down.

You can watch them here. Also has the Chaulk hit very early in the tape.

This

... the most inconsistent officiating the Komets have had for a home game this season. One trip down the ice something is not a penalty, but 10 strides later it is. This pretty much makes no sense.

Komets down 4-2 after 1

Colin Chaulk got called for a kneeing major/game misconduct in the first minute, and then Missouri scored twice on the power play. The Mavericks have three power-play goals so far. Komets cut the margin to 3-2 at one point.

Looks like the start-of-the-week jinx is continuing and we'll have to see if their trend of not coming back when they trail after the first period continues as well.

I thought the game misconduct was the correct call. The only good thing about it is the Missouri player who was injured returned to the game so that would likely negate any extra suspension.

Mac signs with Idaho

Brad MacMillan has signed with Idaho of the ECHL. The ECHL is not recognizing the final nine games of his CHL suspension, and he's going to play tonight.

Game is ON

Though it seems like everything else has been canceled, the hockey game is a go since Missouri arrived in town yesterday.

Francis gets recall

The Komets learned Monday that center Chris Francis has been recalled by their American Hockey League affiliate, the Springfield Falcons.

Francis, 21, was signed as a free agent by the NHL's Columbus Blue Jackets during the summer of 2010 and began the season skating four games (1 goal, 1 assist) with Springfield before his assignment to Fort Wayne in November.  Francis scored four goals and 17 points while accumulating 12 penalty minutes during his 28-game stint with Fort Wayne.

Some notes

Komets announcer Bob Chase will celebrate his 85th birthday on Saturday... Goaltender Kevin Reiter's save percentage jumped from .890 to .899 after Sunday's 37-save performance... The Komets are 2-8-3 during the first game of the week, including 2-5-1 at home.... Over the last 10 games, P.C. Drouin has led the Komets in scoring with five goals and 12 points. Frankie DeAngelis and Tab Lardner each have 10 points and Guy Dupuis nine... Colin Chaulk hasn't changed much as he has seven points on only seven shots on goal...
