Here's what it comes down to

Training camp opened this morning, and here's what every player has in the back of their mind.

There are 29 players competing for 22 spots (20 active, 2 on reserve), which means some very good players are going somewhere else, probably by next Monday.

Komets add two to roster

From a Komets' press release:

Tristan King is in town

Dallas Stars prospect  Tristan King skated this morning at Lutheran Health SportsCenter. The 22-year-old, 6-foot, 210-pound center played last year with San Francisco and Idaho in the ECHL, scoring 22 goals and 45 points in 52 games.

``We're still in negotations with Dallas about bringing him to camp,'' Komets coach Gary Graham said. ``The negotiations are still in the works.''

Komets in AHL, NHL camps

Matt Firman with Chicago Wolves, Mickey Lang with Lake Erie, John Muse with Providence, Cody Reichard with Nashville and Joe Hartman with Grand Rapids have all been released and will be in Fort Wayne when training camp starts Sunday. The only possible doubtful is Drew Olson who was with Tampa Bay which sent him to Syracuse. That's one reason why William Lacasse has been invited to camp.

As for Paul McIlveen, the Komets aren't talking at all, and if they aren't denying it, it usually means the paperwork hasn't arrived yet.
