Maggio-Negrin fight

Komets lose

Kalamazoo won 3-2 despite being out-shot 41-32 by the Komets who controlled the game for the last two periods but could not get the tying goal. Joel Martin made 39 saves in what turned out to be a pretty good hockey game.

No defense tonight

The Komets trail 3-2 after the first period. Both teams have 14 shots. Here's Kalamazoo's goal by Aaron Clarke over the right shoulder of Marco Cousineau on a power play. Cousineau, obviously, never saw it.

Here's the uniform

Wow

Not sure what to say about this other than at least it's for a good cause. Kalamazoo and the Komets are playing on yellow ice tonight as the Wings raise money for the local Ronald McDonald's House, which is a great thing.

Same officiating crew as last night. Komets have won five of their last six road games.

Komets miss another chance at home

Nice play

Defenseman Dan Nycholat saves the Komets from going down 3-1 with this backhand during the late second period Friday night. Komets trail 2-1 after one.

No goal?

Referee Chris Pitoscia, who was skating in the corner behind Komets center Brett Smith, ruled this was no goal because Smith knocked the puck into the net with his hand. The puck  actually hit him in the hand area, fell to the ice where he knocked it in with his stick. The puck is near Smith's left hip and could not have gone into the net unless he hit it with his stick. Komets lost the argument.

It's 0-0 after one.

Toledo Legends game

You can find the info here.

Basically, it's Feb. 17 at Toledo starting at 2 p.m. before the regular 5 p.m. game. Tickets cost $15 for both games. Gates open at 1 p.m. Rosters will be announced later. Hope they get some decent officiating this time.

Komets release pair

Ron Cramer and Jeremy Gates have been sent back to Gary Graham and Pensacola of the SPHL to help make room on the roster for J.M. Rizk, Ryan Hegarty and Brandon Marino.

Reiter, Hoban lead Ks to another road win.

How about this: The Komets had 11 rookies in the lineup tonight, which is probably a franchise record. You can read about it all here, including some very interesting stats on Reiter.

Komets win 1-0

Kenny Reiter made 36 saves and Mike Hoban scored the game-winning goal for the second game in a row as the Komets beat Evansville 1-0. Eric Giosa assisted on Hoban's goal halfway through the third period.
