Tailing the Komets

Ks up 2-1 after two

Beautiful power-play goal by Brett Smith off a Tyler Butler set-up pass.

Cincy didn't get its 10th shot on goal until nine minutes had passed in the second period. The newcomers are small, but they are skating hard, hustling and taking the body. They are really moving and playing good defense so far.

Where is it?

It was actually behind the goal.

Giosa's goal

It's 1-1 after the first period thanks to Matt Firman's nice set-up of Eric Giosa.

Still more roster moves

Looks like Ryan Hegarty, Garrett Klotz and Matt Kennedy have been recalled to Norfolk and the Komets have signed John Dunbar and Ron Cramer from Pensacola of the SPHL afer all, according to the ECHL website.

Cincinnati also lost last night's goaltender Zoltan Hetenyi to a recall.

Pensacola also had this intersting roster move yesterday: ADD Bradtmueller, Mark () added as emergency goaltender. Bones!

Komets win 2-1 in a shootout

Brandon Marino scored in regulation and Brayden Metz and J.M. Rizk in the shootout. Kenny Reiter made 32 saves in regulation and then stopped all four Cyclones in the shootout. Komets pick up a point on Cincinnati and have tied Toledo for second after the Walleye lost 3-2 in Florida after leading 2-0 early.

More later.

Something fun

More from David Franke

With the CBA not being ratified yet, NHL teams are not allowed to bring in because part of the work stoppage is that teams are prohibited from doing that. That, and only having a week, is limiting NHL training camps.

Komets might lose one or two more players tomorrow to AHL, but that's not 100 percent yet.

``Basically it's just a situation where we're waiting to find out who is going to be leaving and who is going to be staying,'' Franke said.

Here's what we know

John Dunbar and Ron Cramer are not coming now. Corey Elkins is going to Finland, Nick Schaus has been recalled to Norfolk and Daniel Maggio is going to Bridgeport. Jeremy Gates, Brayden Metz and Paul Cintala are here now.

It's kind of tough to get more because no one is talking until the NHL contract is ratified.

Rizk-y business and other Komets notes

Audio memories from 20 years ago

From Dave Longsworth's collection. SportsTalk, a Cleveland game and a memory of Bob Chase Night. SportsTalk talks about the announcement of the all-stars for a game in Phoenix. Now that was a fun trip, though Kent and I were about ready to kill Bob the next morning. Fun memories.

Some updates, but not about recalls

Komets General Manager David Franke: ``Nothing has been finalized at all with Anaheim or Norfolk on what player movment wherewill be. That all comes from them. When they are ready to make their decision they will make it.''
