The law and the jungle

Profiling

This seems like a ditinction that's hard to justify:

Today, the Obama administration will reveal new updates to its guidelines on racial profiling. Politico explains the new guidelines will tighten “limits on the practice but still allow federal law enforcement agencies to employ it at airports and along the border.”

17 states to Obama: Nuh-uh

Nice to see Indiana in the vanguard once again, becoming one of 17 stares (led, naturally, by Texas) filing a lawsuit against President Obama's decision to create legal status for millions of illegal immigrants by executive action:

The camera didn't help

Today's editorial speaks in favor of the push for police body cameras in the wake of the Ferguson, Mo., cop-kills-unarmed-teenager incident. This is the penultimate paragraph:

Smile, you're on cop cam

President Obama has unfortunately decided to add to the racial demagoguery in the wake of Ferguson rather than trying to stop it. But he has half a good idea here:

President Obama on Monday will announce $263 million in funding for law enforcement agencies to purchase body-worn cameras and improve training.

Hands down, this is stupid

This whole "using Ferguson to push a racial-victims narrative" is now officially completely out of hand.

The St. Louis Rams made a silent statement about the decision by a Ferguson, Mo., grand jury not to indict police officer Darren Wilson in the shooting death of Michael Brown, an unarmed 18-year-old, last August.

Media madness

I know I've expressed my dismay/disgust with the media's unprofessional and malicious show of journalistic incompetence in the Ferguson case. Time and time again it has been shown that the primary agenda of the press is not to provide, thoroughly and fairly, the facts Americans need to be informed citizens.

But let me vent a little more, please.

I think this guy gets it exactly right:

Pre-riot report

Butt out, please

The Board of Health in the Massachusetts town of Westminster is considering making the town the first in the nation to ban all sales of all tobacco products. A public hearing on the proposal drew a noisy crowd of opponents, and it wasn't just smokers who thought the idea was downright stupid.

Die, baby, die

Isn't "post-birth abortion" what we used to call infanticide?

A trend seen by prolife activists that frequently engage college students on campuses nationwide is the growing acceptance of post-birth abortion, or killing the infant after he or she is born, campus prolife outreach leaders tell The College Fix.

Moped blues

The more I think about this, the sillier and more trivial it seems:

The free ride will soon be over for low-speed scooters in Indiana.

Drivers of moped scooters with engines of 50 cubic centimeters or less will need to buy license plates and take a street sign test at the Bureau of Motor Vehicles beginning next year.
