Management wrapping up details

Komets General Manager David Franke said he hopes to announce the third goaltender coming to training camp by Wednesday, but it won't be Larry Sterling.

``I have no interest in him,'' Franke said.

Other than Artem Podshedyalov who will be in Fort Wayne by Monday night, everyone else should be here in time for Sunday's team meeting. Podshedyalov has a meeting at the embassy in Moscow on Saturday.

Cirque du Soleil

For the fourth time in 15 years, I went to see Cirque du Soleil on Thursday, and by the end I was wondering if these were the best athletes ever to perform at Memorial Coliseum. Think about all the great competitors who have showcased their skills in that building over the last 60 years, the hockey players, NBA players, Olympic athletes and pro athletes from various sports, and I believe the Cirque du Soleil performers could be the most gifted.

Komets and Tim Hoke

Talked with Komets Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing Scott Sproat today, and he said the team is NOT going to hold a moment of silence for the late Tim Hoke on opening night Oct. 22.

``We've got something else planned which we're going to use during the third period,'' Sproat said. ``We've been trying to think of something appropriate to do for Tim, and a moment of silence just didn't seem like the thing to do to honor Tim.''

Sproat would not explain further what the team was going to do, other than to say he's sure Tim would have appreciated it.
