Over the next week, we've got a lot of fun stuff coming in The News-Sentinel, starting Wednesday with a survey of CHL teams to help Fort Wayne fans get to know the league. Along with our special season preview section on Friday, we'll have big packages Thursday, Friday, Saturday and on into next week. The Komets' only roster move today was to waive defenseman Brad Pawlowski. Komets general manager David Franke said the team is contacting All-American Hockey League teams to see if they have any interest in the rookie if he clears waivers.
``We'd like to keep him in the States,'' Franke said. ``He wants to play pro and we'd like to have him develop more and be where if we need him in a pinch we can get him. We're trying to see what's out there for him. He could get picked up by somebody in our league.''

``Overall I thought Boucher played really sharp for this early in the season. I thought our team killed penalties well, though we haven't covered that yet other than the forecheck. We were using our veteran guys 5-on-3, and they did a really good job. Of the younger guys, I thought Marple and Bluhm had a lot of energy, same with Fletcher, Ward was smart with the puck. I thought all four of them showed pretty well. Fletcher reminds you of Kaleigh Schrock last year, a lot of speed and a great shot. He uses it well. I thought Naurato and Patrosso really created a lot of scoring chances.
Dayton scored on a perfect 2-on-1 as Tim Hartung set up Mike Vaskivuo for a slap shot over Kevin Reiter's shoulder. Perfect shot, too. Craig Cescon fought Dayton's Kyle Bochek at the end of the period. Bobby Phillips stood up for Mathieu Curadeau after a check at center ice. Can't let anyone take a questionable hit like that, especially someone you are counting on to be a team leader this season. Thought Warner and Dupuis looked pretty good on the PP. Ward is kind of sneaky around the net. He doesn't look like he's moving that fast, but he's always in the middle of things.
Komets GM David Franke said he's talked to Pascal who is looking around for another AHL job.
``I don't know where he would fit right now,'' Franke said. ``Maybe
It's 2-0. Leo set up O'Connor for a wrist shot, and a couple of minutes later Joe Bluhm set up Tyler Fletcher almost the same play. Pretty fast pace. Olivier Legault and Devin Guy fought and it was pretty much a draw.
First off, the Komets are looking at getting a pair of players from the Blue Jackets. GM David Franke would not name them.
The Komets announced Thursday that an affiliation has been formed between the NHL's Columbus Blue Jackets and the Fort Wayne CHL team for 2010-11.
