In honor of Flag Day, the WBC issued a (probably unintentionally) hilarious press release -- which came a day late, because evidently it takes a little while to write a song about how "They'll face the wrath of God for sure/Cuz they worshipped a filthy flag."

I haven't bothered you with a word-usage peeve lately, so indulge me today. Under the headline "Emigrant first in her family to earn degree," the South Bend Tribune has a story about a refugee from Bosnia getting her degree from Indiana University South Bend. There is this short paragraph:
She and her family eventually found their way back to their village, but learned there was no future for them there. They immigrated to South Bend 10 years ago.
In the ruling allowing a white cross to stay on a stretch of Mojave Desert to honor the dead of World War I, Justice Kennedy made the point I was trying to get across in a recent post, and he said it much better:
The bottom line, Justice Anthony M. Kennedy wrote, is that "the Constitution does not oblige government to avoid any public acknowledgment of religion's role in society."
