God and evolution

I'm not well versed in Catholic theology, so I don't know how big a deal this is. And the press has a long history of hopelessly mangling what popes say, so I'm not even sure he really even believes this. But I do find it interesting:

What's up, Doc?

On the fly

CDC Director Thomas Frieden has "expressed regret" (love those weasel words) that he kept saying "Hey, we can handle this Ebola thing" when we clearly weren't ready for it:

It's natural, man

Oh, dear. Remember when the Los Angeles times announced it was no longer accepting letters from "climate change deniers"? In light of that, I'm surprised they even published this:

Naturally occurring changes in winds, not human-caused climate change, are responsible for most of the warming on land and in the sea along the West Coast of North America over the last century, a study has found.

Natural-born killers

Finally, something that isn't my fault:

Paris (AFP) - Chimpanzees can be lethally violent to each other but this stems from an inherent streak and not, as some have suggested, from human interference, a study said on Wednesday.

Eat at will!

We don't even have to talk about global warming climate change to discredit that "the science is settled" nonsense. Been reading about new "insights" into food lately?

A new study published in the Annals of Internal Medicine adds to the body of evidence that cutting back on carbs, not fat, can lead to more weight loss.

Who's in charge?

Miracle workers

Hooray for Hoosier Dr, Kent Brantly and his recovery from ebola. One reason given for returning him and his fellow medical missionary to the U.S. was that they'd get far better treatment here and would thus have a better chance of survival.  Well, guess what:
