Chuckitt tells me that Skate had a kidney transplant over the weekend and will be coming home sometime this week. He'll be unable to attend the games for a few weeks.
So get well, Skate, and we'll do our best to keep you posted. We'll keep you in our prayers. Please keep us posted on how you are doing.
Imagine looking at Rosanne Barr naked. Knew I shouldn't have drank so much last night. This was a heckova picture to wake up to today. Thank goodness for the cutie on the left to take the edge off. This proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that the ugliest people always have the most beautiful children.
I have another assignment tonight so for a change you'll have to tell me what happened.

This may shock you, but i didn't think the Komets really played all that well, but Rockford was worse. The Komets gave up a lot of shots, especially early, but they weren't great scoring chances. They gave up better chances later and got burned. The defense was really struggling, and the five-on-five play was only fair. Thank goodness for the special teams.
Any time you can beat Rockford is impressive, but...

With the one-game suspension for Bogdan Rudenko, the Komets are putting Jonas Gabrielsen in the lineup tonight. His advantage is that he can play both forward and defenseman.
This is not a hockey story, but it is an important one to me, and to you in an odd way. Joe Sheibley, long-time managing editor at The News-Sentinel passed away today. He was also a long-time Blake Sebring guru.
Or were the Scoop Guys throwing it a lot higher last week. Gulp! That means I have to pay more attention between periods. Either they've been working out or the stuff they are throwing just gots a lot further.
The league just ruled. He'll sit out Friday's game against Rockford.

I told David last night that Fort Wayne Komets have ran 55 great years as an organization and when my famiy run an organization, they run it the same way. The professionalism is unbelievable. According to an e-mail from his brother and agent Kenny Miller, forward Kelly Miller has decided to leave the Komets to play with the Huntsville Havoc of the Southern Professional Hockey League. Miller has yet to play for the Komets this season and has been the eighth-veteran on the roster. Each game a United Hockey League team is limited to playing seven players who have at least 300 professional games.

But to keep you entertained, Tony reminded me of this over the weekend and thought you might enjoy it.
It's a good thing I had a late deadline because I just finished
typing in all the penalties from Saturday night's Komets game. I got my first
blister Saturday night during the game writing them all down, and then added
two more typing them in after Fort Wayne's 8-3 win over Quad City.
Referee Jim Hawthorne called 30 penalties in the game, giving
each team 12 power plays. That seems to be typical of all the games around the
United Hockey League. There may not be any pickle juice left in the world by
the all-star break at this rate.

Did you like the new goal song? (I'm already tired of it. LOL). How about everything else? I thought the opening ceremonies stuff was good as usual, with something new from Icy.
It's been a long time since the Komets have had a defenseman as strong as Mario Larocque. He and Dupuis together might be the most physically strong pairing in the UHL. J.C. Ruid definitely has the longest reach in the league. I thought Goodwin might have been the Komets' best player as far as all-around game.
For me it's something really simple, I want to see what Icy comes up with to start. It amazes me -- and I'm a little envious of it -- how creative he is.
