The 11th annual Down Syndrome Association of Northeast Indiana Buddy Walk will be held Oct. 3 at 10 a.m. at Foster Park. It's a 2.1-mile walk of approximately 1,500 people, including Komets captain Guy Dupuis and his family. That's Guy's picture with his son Matthew.
First off, congratulations to Justin for breaking that story,
Second, what are the issues you would like to see the new commissioner handle? What are your bi
Komets General Manager David Franke said today that forward Justin Hodgman has been invited to the Chicago Blackhawks' training camp starting Sept. 11. Hodgman has already signed a contract with the Blackhawks' AHL farm team in Rockford and could end up there or with Toledo of the ECHL.
"You can get to a higher level from Fort Wayne," Franke said. "Sometimes it's just tough convincing the players and the agents, but you can advance paying in the IHL and in Fort Wayne."
The Komets announced Wednesday that four more players have inked agreements boosting the preseason roster to 30 skaters.
Rookies Matt Wagner (goaltender) and Tim Recio (defensman) will attend camp as part of the Komets' affiliation with Evansville of the AAHL.
Wagner, 22, appeared in 17 games with Evansville last season posting a 6-10-0 record and 5.87 goals-against average.
Recio, 25, also skated with Evansville last season posting a goal and 11 points in 31 games.

There's no league in hockey that's stable right now. Maybe the NFL is the only league that doesn't have any major problems.
The Memorial Coliseum filed a complaint in Allen Superior Court on Monday against Greater Kalamazoo Sports, Inc. The document claims the Kalamazoo Wings damaged equipment in the visitor's dressing room after a Dec. 21, 2008 game against the Komets. Coliseum official say fire damage to a showerhead, toilet seat, handicapped shower bench, walls and flooring in the room cost $9,450 to fix.
Fort Wayne is no longer the defending champion, but finishing No. 2 is still very good in this poll.
In an article published Monday, Street and Smith's Sports Business Journal ranked Fort Wayne as the No. 2 minor-league sports city in America behind Hershey-Harrisburg, Penn. Fort Wayne was the top-ranked city in 2007 after coming in No. 7 in the magazine's initial survey in 2005.
The Kalamazoo Wings, proud member of the ECHL and affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers and San Jose Sharks of the National Hockey League, announce they have agreed to terms with forwards Sean O'Conner, Erik Johnson and defenseman Matt Krug for the upcoming 2009-10 season; per team policy, the terms of the contracts will be undisclosed.
One of the top rookies in the International Hockey League a season ago, O'Conner joins the K-Wings after spending last season with the Fort Wayne Komets.
Got this in an email today.
To whom it may concern:
Recently I have been contacted by two reporters that were writing articles about the Dayton Gems owners previous business failure, namely, Buddy's Pizza Buffet of Fort Wayne.
They are moving the Wednesday, Nov. 18 game against Flint to Sunday, Dec. 6, and the Sunday, Dec. 13 game against Dayton to Thursday, April 1.

I asked David Franke today about some of Hit Somebody's questions on the Evansville affiliation.
* There's nothing to prevent another IHL team from picking up a player from Evansville unless that player is on a two-way contract with the Komets. Two-way contracts have not been discussed but could be a possibility.
Say there was a Michael Vick of hockey, would you care if he signed to play with the Komets? Would it make a difference to you? What if he was a super-heavyweight figher?
Why am I getting all the Russian blogs in my spam? Who's been doing something naughty on the web?
No, really, here's the new topic: After watching last night's Cubs-Phillies game where the "fan" threw the beer on Shane Victorino, my question is, how far should fans be allowed to go in supporting their teams? How much should fans be a part of the game? I know all of you have seen and heard some pretty interesting things at Komets games over the years. What's the worst fan behavior you have seen or done? What should the limits be for fan behavior?

He was looking at the possibility of signing in Asiago, Italy, but told the Komets he would decide by Aug. 1, so he did.
