Tailing the Komets

Roster report

The Komets are getting defenseman Gabe Guentzel in tonight from Norfolk. He's 6-0, 187 pounds and is supposed to have some offensive skill. He has one assist in six games with the Admirdals.

He's 24, and played at Colorado College. He played 12 games last year with Syracuse of the AHL after finishing his college career.

On Soundoff tonight

Schrocky is the guest. I'm guessing he'll have a couple of surprises planned for Tommy, especially since he won't be able to call in this time. It starts at 7:30 p.m. on Ch. 21.

Shutout throws Komets into slump

Not nearly enough of this

Tyler Butler connecting with Evansville's Jason Dale. I don't think I counted one good check the entire second period, and then the Komets came out right away in the third period and took another penalty. The locker room cleared out so fast, the players left vapor trails toight.

More later.

Great job!

With help from former Komets Eddie Long, Guy Dupuis, Reggie Primeau and George Drysdale, the Lamp Lighters Hockey Ministry raised $7,000 today shooting the puck today. That's just amazing and inspiring. Way to go, guys! Maggio suspended, fined

From an ECHL release:

WANE's Friday highlights

Komets didn't have it tonight, either

For the second game in a row, the Fort Wayne Komets came out flat, took too many penalties and it cost them in a 2-1 loss to the Toledo Walleye before 7,303 Memorial Coliseum fans. The Komets tried to tie it up late, but that was the most energy they showed by far the entire game. Even when they weren't trying to kill off penalties, they looked disjointed, emotionless and leaderless.

Here's what the last seconds looked like, and you can see just how close they came.

Nick Schaus's replacement is....

Since defenseman Nick Schaus was recalled to Norfolk of the American Hockey League and won't be back this weekend, the Komets need another player. They have called up forward Mike Hoban from Dayton of the Federal Hockey League. Hoban, who was in training camp with the Komets, has eight goals and 14 points in nine games this season with the Demonz (stupid name), and is plus-8.

Why Hoban and not Brayden Metz who leads the FHL in scoring?
