Newspeak in the Associated Press Stylebook:

The Stylebook no longer sanctions the term “illegal immigrant” or the use of “illegal” to describe a person. Instead, it tells users that “illegal” should describe only an action, such as living in or immigrating to a country illegally.

Bad first date

So if you make a date online with a 16-year-old girl you've never met, and she turns out to really be a 16-year-old girl rather than a 45-year-old, pot-bellied cop named Max participating in a sting operation aimed at you, you're still not home free, Bub:

Must-see TV

Slippery slope

Gotta hand it to Justice Sotomayor. She asked the most pertinent question about gay marriage of Ted Olson, one of its advocates arguing before the Supreme Court:

Dark at the end of the tunnel

Drat. I forgot to observe Earth Hour again this year:

Iconic landmarks and skylines were plunged into darkness on Saturday as the "Earth Hour" switch-off of lights around the world got under way to raise awareness of climate change.

No blog for old men

You know how some people start checking out the obits when they reach a certain age just to see how many of those listed they know? Well, I've reached an age where I pay more attention to articles like this one:

When exactly does someone become elderly?

First Lady Felix

President Obama, on Michelle's influence:

First Lady Michelle Obama has played the role of Felix to her husband’s Oscar during their entire 20-year partnership, President Obama revealed.

“I had this little bachelor apartment that Michelle refused to stay in because she thought it was a little, uh . . . you know, pizza boxes everywhere,” President Obama says in April’s Vogue.

Shut up, they explained
