Tailing the Komets

Want to host a hockey player?

The Ft Wayne Federals Junior Hockey team is looking for local families to host our out of town players through the hockey season. Host families welcome our players into their homes to be a part of their family for seven months out of the year. Host families receive $300.00 per month from the player towards his food and housing. With some exceptions, most players are responsible for their own transportation. We also require they go to school, hold a part time job or are active in volunteer work in the community.

From a Komets press release

On the radio

at 8:30 a.m. Saturday I'll be talking Komets with Brett Rump on 1380 AM. It's so early, I might say something strange so you'll want to listen.

Boucher on surgery

``I'm still disappointed. I have no problem having htis done, I just wish it was May.

``There's been a little bit of a relief factor involved in making the deicsion. I had resolved myself to try to do another year like I had been, but (Komets trainer Shawn Dundon) and David were pretty adamant. Shawn felt like I was on borrowed time and I understand where they are coming from.  Something like this doesn't get any better, it gets worse with time.

Franke on Boucher

``This doesn't surprise us a bit. We've been aware of all of this for the last couple of months. I think it's something Nick has to do. He's going to help us out in training camp either on the ice or in the stands watching players and the goalies, working with Al. He'll be the eye in the sky in the press box like Gary (Graham) was last year. His surgery and rehab will be here. He's still going ot be part of the club and we'll address his playing situation when the time comes.

By Denis J. Puska

Two coaches and a reporter highlight Episode 5 of Season 4 of The Original Internet Hockey Show.

Host Denis J. Puska speaks with Blake Sebring of the Ft. Wayne News-Sentinel to talk about a 1960s hockey stick signed by the Montreal Canadiens that is being auctioned off.

Thomas officially signs with Pensacola

Just heard from Gary Graham that Leo has completed and submitted his contract for next season with Pensacola of the Southern Professional Hockey League.

Giosa thrilled to sign with Komets

Komets sign Giosa, Maggio

Giosa, 27, scored 28 goals and 70 p oints last  year for Quad City. Komets now have Chaulk, Smith and Giosa up the middle which is very strong.  He's averaged about a point per game during his three-year pr0 career.

Maggio will be their top rookie for next season and is a major piece on the blueline. Can't wait to see what this kid can do over a full season.

Thomas negotiating with Pensacola

Leo Thomas is considering whether to become Gary Graham's captain and assistant coach with Pensacola of the SPHL. He's played the last four years with the Komets, earning three championship rings, scoring 86 goals and 163 points in 236 games. The sides are getting close, but the final paperwork has not been signed yet. An announcement could come later this week.

Great move by both sides if it comes true. This is the perfect set up for Gary and for Leo.

Boucher continues surgery deliberation

You can read the story here.

The Komets are also in talks with Brent Henley and Daniel Maggio.

They are not interested in Pascal Morency.

``I haven't heard from him this summer,'' David Franke said. ``I think Pascal is probably for us beyond the point we would bring him back.''
